Route (Prague - Munich Oktoberfest)

Route for Tour Prague 2 Oktoberfest TRANSPORT

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

The trip departs Prague from Hlavni Nadrazi at 7:00*. The meeting point is the Bus Departure point. Access this via Platform 1 outside the main entrance and the Fatnova Kavarna. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel to Munich is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and toilet. We play DVDs through the duration of the trip. Estimated travel time is 5 hours**. We will arrive in Munich at approximately noon*. Upon arrival to Munich, your Bus2alps Trip Leader will point you in the direction of public transportation, Theresienweise (the site where the festival takes place), and assist you in locating your accommodation.

Friday morning the insanity starts. We highly recommend heading to the grounds where the festival is held called the Theresienwiese. The site is easily accessible by foot from the main train station called Hauptbahnof. Oktoberfest is a giant festival, with rides, games, and beer tents. There are 14 tents of varying sizes. Tent capacities range from 1,000 to 10,000 people. The Bus2alps group will be heading to the Hofbrau Tent at 10:00. We recommend joining us as this is one of the festival’s most popular tents. Once inside, enjoy authentic Bavarian food, world famous German beer, and plenty of singing. Each tent specializes in a different type of lager so make sure to try a few different tents.

If you are looking to spend the day exploring Munich, speak with your Bus2alps Trip Leader on arrival in Munich about organizing the famous Munich Bike Tour. The tour departs at 10:00 and 14:00. Due the festival, spots on the tour should be reserved a day in advance. Other places to see while in Munich include the Dachau Concentration Camp, Deutches Museum, Munich Zoo, Olympic Park, and the BMW Museum. Consult your Bus2alps Informational Guide for how to visit each site. If you plan to attend the festival afterwards, we recommend getting there no later than 15:00 - 16:00 in order to guarantee entrance into a beer tent. If you are not able to enter a tent, there are plenty of beer gardens to hang out and enjoy the weather until they resume entrance into the tents.

Most of the festival shuts down between 22:30 and 23:00. Munich has a diverse nightlife, so if you have the energy, it is worth checking out Munich’s bars and night clubs. If you find yourself rundown, most of the accommodations in Munich have good after-festival bars.

Day 2

Saturday is the busiest day at the Oktoberfest. It is recommended to arrive at the festival before 8:00 to ensure yourself a spot in the most popular tents. Consult your Bus2alps Informational Guide for which tents are the most popular. If you arrive late and are not able to enter the tents, it is recommended to grab a spot in the beer garden until they start allowing more people to enter the tent.

If you are looking to spend the day exploring Munich, it is possible to organize a spot on the Munich Bike Tour. The bike tour departs at 10:00 and 14:00. Contact your Bus2alps Trip Leader about organizing a spot on the bike tour. Due the festival, spots on the tour should be reserved a day in advance. Bus2alps also suggests going to the Dachau Concentration Camp, Deutches Museum, BMW Museum, Olympic Park, and Munich Zoo. If you are interested in a day trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle, Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, it is possible to organize a private trip based on the group size. Consult your Bus2alps Informational Guide for more details.

Day 3

Sunday you will have time to explore Munich, or to head back for one more day of partying at the Theresienwiese. There is enough time if you wake up early to head out to Dachau, or check out any of Munich’s great museums. Consult your Bus2alps Informational Guide about how to reach each site. Sunday will be no problem obtaining entrance into the beer tents at the Oktoberfest. Departure is at 16:00*. The meeting point is the same as where you were dropped, Arnulfstrasse.
